Astrophotography

Hello,

I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I recently got a telescope for Christmas, and got in to observing the night sky. I found that if I stuck my phone's camera lens up to the eyepiece of the telescope, I could take photos of what I was seeing.

This was very difficult to do, as there is a narrow window for which the light can reach the camera lens without being distorted or cut off. I had to hold the phone in a precise position with a steady hand to take clear photos. The highest quality photos were of the moon, because of its size and brightness. I also attempted to take photos of star clusters, which are not as impressive, but still interesting.

I took these photos over a series of weeks, which is why the moon appears in its different phases, from a waxing crescent, to a gibbous, to a full moon. I have adjusted the exposure for some of them, reducing the brightness of the moon and increasing the brightness of the star clusters.

Thanks for reading, and enjoy this week's unique collection of photos!

Welcome!

Hi all, My name is Bobby Cooper, and welcome to my photo blog! Photography has always been a natural talent and a hobby of mine but I have never taken the time to really develop my skills and focus on it. I am an IB Diploma student, and we are required to complete a CAS (Creativity, Action, and Service) project as part of the program. I decided creating a photo blog would both allow me to express myself creatively and improve my abilities. I will be posting on here once a week on average, with each week comprising of a different theme. I hope you enjoy reading my blog posts and thanks for stopping by!

Europe

Hey everyone, It's been a while but I have lots of great new content to share. Over the summer, I went on one of the best vacations of my life with a three-week trip to Europe. We stayed in Tuscany with our cousins for a week and then travelled to Lake Como in the north of Italy for a few days. After that, we flew to Paris and spent a couple of days there before finishing in London. I took hundreds of photos along the way of the countryside, architecture, and overall beauty of Europe. What I am sharing today are a few of my favorite photos from the trip. Because of the huge variety of photo opportunities, I found it greatly beneficial for practicing my photography skills. I experimented with different angles and lighting situations, as well as both portrait and landscape orientations. Some of the photos are edited, but some are raw. All of them were taken with my iPhone 7 (which I hope to upgrade to a better camera soon). Thanks for reading- here is my Europe collection. ...
