Neon

Hey everyone,

This week I wanted to try a theme that's a little different. I noticed that many of my photos feature bright colors and lights, so I thought a "neon" theme would be appropriate to display these.

For the nighttime photos (which most of them are) I had to make sure they were not blurry. This is pretty hard to do with an iPhone camera lens, as the exposure cannot be adjusted manually. This meant I had to hold the camera extremely still when taking these. I also had to digitally adjust the focus so that the colors were not washed out.

The following photos were taken in a variety of settings including the Hamilton Princess in Bermuda, the banks of the River Thames in London, and the inside of a disco taxi cab. In fact, many of them are photos of interesting art I came across that featured light, as well as buildings and interiors as well. All are taken with my iPhone 7, and most are unedited. I hope you enjoy this week's collection!

Astrophotography

Hello, I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I recently got a telescope for Christmas, and got in to observing the night sky. I found that if I stuck my phone's camera lens up to the eyepiece of the telescope, I could take photos of what I was seeing. This was very difficult to do, as there is a narrow window for which the light can reach the camera lens without being distorted or cut off. I had to hold the phone in a precise position with a steady hand to take clear photos. The highest quality photos were of the moon, because of its size and brightness. I also attempted to take photos of star clusters, which are not as impressive, but still interesting. I took these photos over a series of weeks, which is why the moon appears in its different phases, from a waxing crescent, to a gibbous, to a full moon. I have adjusted the exposure for some of them, reducing the brightness of the moon and increasing the brightness of the star clusters. Thanks for reading, and enjoy t...

Europe

Hey everyone, It's been a while but I have lots of great new content to share. Over the summer, I went on one of the best vacations of my life with a three-week trip to Europe. We stayed in Tuscany with our cousins for a week and then travelled to Lake Como in the north of Italy for a few days. After that, we flew to Paris and spent a couple of days there before finishing in London. I took hundreds of photos along the way of the countryside, architecture, and overall beauty of Europe. What I am sharing today are a few of my favorite photos from the trip. Because of the huge variety of photo opportunities, I found it greatly beneficial for practicing my photography skills. I experimented with different angles and lighting situations, as well as both portrait and landscape orientations. Some of the photos are edited, but some are raw. All of them were taken with my iPhone 7 (which I hope to upgrade to a better camera soon). Thanks for reading- here is my Europe collection. ...

Culture and Lifestyle

Hey guys! My idea for this week's theme was inspired by a recent photo competition for students that I entered. The competition involved three themes, and one of them was "Bermuda Life" which is mostly the culture and lifestyle of Bermuda. I have done minimal photography with people, and none on this blog so far, so I thought I could challenge myself with this theme. The photos I have here relate to experiences I have had that relate to Bermudian culture and people. I took most of them spontaneously and in the moment, and tried to capture what living in Bermuda is like. These photos were taken all around Bermuda such as Horseshoe Bay, the PGA Championship at Port Royal Golf Course, and at raft-ups. I found it more difficult than landscape photography I had done in the past, as I had to focus on capturing people who are constantly moving as opposed to just the natural environment. As always, all were taken with my iPhone 7. Enjoy! ~Bobby
